Silky Bright Stain Remover
THE PRODUCT

Silky Bright Stain Remover

Silky Bright is the specialist stain-removing treatment in this range for persistent yellow or dark marks on white GRP. It is a different job from an ordinary wash or a polishing step.

Identify the mark and confirm the material first. Use the current container label and safety information for application and rinsing, rather than directions from an older product version.

BEST FOR

Match the task

Choose this route when an ordinary wash has cleared loose dirt but a localised yellow or dark stain remains on known white GRP. Keep the work focused on the affected area.

A panel that is clean but dull calls for a separate assessment of the finish. Do not use a specialist stain remover simply because the surface has lost its gloss.

CHECK FIRST

Before you begin

Confirm the panel is white GRP and check for coatings or repairs. Avoid contact with non-ferrous metals, and follow the current pack and safety directions for the surface in front of you.

If the material or mark is uncertain, ask before treating. Do not lengthen the stated contact time or alter the product by guesswork.

1

First, identify the mark

Yellowing or a dark patch that remains on white GRP after ordinary cleaning is a different job from loose surface dirt. A flat, dull finish that is clean but lacks gloss is different again. Check which condition you can actually see before choosing a treatment; repeatedly washing or polishing the wrong problem wastes effort.

This guide concerns the white GRP surfaces named in the current Silky Bright product guidance. If the material, coating or previous repair is uncertain, stop and ask before applying a specialist treatment. For everyday grime on plastic and GRP, use the plastic and GRP cleaning guide instead.

2

Before you treat a stain

Read the current container label and safety information in full. Silky Bright is an oxalic-acid stain remover, not a shampoo. Its instructions require avoiding contact with non-ferrous metals. Keep treatment local to the stained area and follow the pack directions for the surface in front of you. Do not transfer instructions from an older label or SDS to a revised product without technical review.

3

A careful treatment sequence

  1. Confirm the surface is white GRP and that the problem is localised staining rather than dirt or loss of gloss.
  2. Following the current label and safety guidance, carefully brush Silky Bright onto the stained area while avoiding non-ferrous metals.
  3. Agitate gently, allow the stated 20–30 minutes, then agitate again and rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water.
  4. Reassess the area after rinsing. The published instructions allow repeating on stubborn areas; do not extend the dwell time or change concentration by guesswork.

The current product information says best results are obtained above 10°C. Untreated wood is a separate use case with an additional neutralising step; this GRP guide is not a substitute for those instructions.

Unsure whether the mark is staining, ordinary dirt or a change in the finish? Check these answers before treating the panel.

No. Loose surface dirt calls for a suitable wash. This guide addresses persistent yellowing or local staining on white GRP after ordinary cleaning.

Stop and identify the material, coating or repair before using a specialist stain treatment. Ask Silky Leisure if you are uncertain.

No. It is a specialist stain remover. Routine washing and restoration of a clean but dull finish are separate jobs.

Read the current label and safety information first, keep treatment local, and avoid contact with non-ferrous metals as the published product guidance states.

Reassess whether it is staining, a coating defect or weathering. Follow only the current pack’s repeat-treatment directions; do not guess a longer dwell time or stronger mix.

If the mark is still visible

Do not assume that every remaining mark is another stain. Recheck whether you are seeing embedded staining, a coating defect, or a clean but weathered finish. The gelcoat restoration guide explains the separate polishing route; caravan cleaning products gives the wider product choice. Contact Silky Leisure if the substrate or finish remains unclear.
