Silky Fineshine
THE PRODUCT

The product

Fineshine is the later, finer polishing stage after compounding. Its purpose is to refine a suitable finish; it is not a wash or a shortcut around surface preparation.

Follow the current label for application and the finish types it covers. Keep this stage distinct from Restore, which is the heavier polishing compound for older or previously compounded gelcoat.

BEST FOR

Best for

Use this route when suitable paintwork has already been compounded and a fine haze or light polishing marks remain. Inspect under consistent light before judging whether more refinement is required.

The caravan swirl guide is related, but this page begins specifically with paintwork after a completed compounding stage.

CHECK FIRST

Check first

Identify whether the panel has clearcoat, single-stage paint, film, a repair or a sensitive edge. Check the vehicle maker’s advice and avoid applying a general process to every coating.

A deep scratch, burn-through or coating failure cannot be corrected safely by simply polishing longer. Stop if the surface becomes uncertain.

1

Inspect the compounded panel

Remove residue by a finish-safe method, then examine the paint in consistent light. Confirm the remaining issue is fine haze or swirls rather than a deep defect or contaminated surface.

Compare the condition with the related swirl-mark guide, which addresses the visual problem more broadly.

2

Refine a small suitable section

Read the current Fineshine label and test a manageable, inconspicuous area using the permitted method and applicator. Protect edges, trim and adjacent materials not covered by the directions.

Assess the result after residue is removed. Do not increase pressure or work time merely because the first visual check is inconclusive.

3

Confirm the finish before protection

Inspect the refined area from more than one angle and compare it with the surrounding paint. Continue only if the finish is sound and the result is consistent.

If the panel is ready for protection, use a separately suitable sealing or waxing product and its own directions. The existing guide helps decide when swirl-like marks need further diagnosis.

Judge the remaining haze on the actual finish before adding another polishing pass.

No. It is the refining stage for previously buffed or compounded suitable surfaces.

Do not assume universal compatibility. Check the current label, coating type and vehicle maker’s guidance.

This page addresses fine haze and light swirls, not deep scratches or failed coating.

Only when the finish is clean, sound and ready, using the separate protection product’s current directions.

Reinspect the panel and prior process before polishing again. Residue, deeper defects or coating condition can look similar.

Finish the correction before the protection stage

Silky Fineshine is the product to consider when suitable paintwork has already been compounded and needs careful refinement. Follow its current label, check the result in consistent light and use the swirl-mark guide if the remaining defect needs further diagnosis.
