The final protection stage after polishing

A polished caravan or motorhome finish has already been through several decisions: cleaning, condition assessment, restoration where required and refinement. Protection belongs at the end of that sequence. Applying a sealer too early can leave you trying to protect a surface that has not yet been properly prepared.

Silky Superseal is the high-gloss polymer sealer in the Silky range for suitable new or restored plastic and paint finishes. Its published position is after buffing with Silky Fineshine.

Make sure the preparation stages are complete

Before sealing, the surface should already be clean and in the condition you want to preserve. If there is still visible grime, return to the appropriate cleaning product. If older gelcoat remains dull, review the restoration stage. Superseal is not described as a substitute for either of those jobs.

The sequence is straightforward: clean first, use Restore where an older gelcoat finish needs polishing, refine previously buffed or compounded surfaces with Fineshine, and then consider Superseal for the prepared plastic or paint finish.

Apply Superseal in manageable areas

The current product guidance says to apply Superseal generously with a microfibre cloth and cover the whole treatment area. Work on one large panel or two small panels at a time. The residue is then buffed away with a new or very clean microfibre cloth to leave a streak-free shine.

Working in defined areas gives you a clear boundary and helps prevent residue from being overlooked. Read the instructions on the current pack before beginning, particularly where temperature or working conditions may affect removal.

What to do if heat makes residue harder to remove

The published instructions include a hot-weather step for residue that becomes difficult to remove: use a fine mist of clean water from about one metre away, then buff the surface again. Follow the complete pack directions rather than treating this as a general instruction for every application.

As with any finish product, check compatibility if the surface, coating or previous treatment is uncertain. Seek advice before applying to an unfamiliar or damaged finish.

Keep future maintenance tied to the condition of the surface

After sealing, inspect and clean the vehicle according to its use, storage and current condition. Do not assume that every later mark requires another restoration cycle. Ordinary dirt may only need the appropriate wash, while a localised stain or a genuinely dull finish is a different task.
